About Tasman Home Energy Advisory
Tasman Home Energy Advisory provides independent advice to help homeowners improve the comfort, efficiency and energy performance of their homes.
The goal is to provide clear, practical guidance so homeowners can make confident decisions about energy upgrades such as heating systems, insulation and solar.
About Jarred
Tasman Home Energy Advisory is operated by Jarred Nielson, a Hobart-based engineer with a background in asset management and performance analysis.
Jarred has extensive experience analysing complex systems and identifying opportunities for improvement through structured engineering analysis. Throughout his career he has worked in roles focused on asset performance, maintenance strategy and long-term system reliability.
Tasman Home Energy Advisory applies the same structured thinking to residential homes, helping homeowners understand how their homes perform and where practical improvements can make the greatest difference.
Why I Started Tasman Home Energy Advisory
Working in engineering and asset performance roles, I’ve spent much of my career analysing systems and identifying where improvements can deliver the greatest benefit.
When I started looking more closely at the energy performance of my own home, I realised the same thinking could be applied to residential houses. Like many homeowners, I found there was very little independent guidance available — most advice was tied to selling a particular product or installation.
That experience led me to look more closely at how homes perform, particularly older Tasmanian homes where heating demand and energy costs can be significant during winter.
Tasman Home Energy Advisory was created to provide clear, independent advice to help homeowners better understand how their homes work and make confident decisions about improvements that will actually make a difference.
I enjoy helping homeowners understand their homes better and identifying practical improvements that improve comfort and reduce energy costs.
Independent Advice
Tasman Home Energy Advisory does not sell or install solar systems, heating equipment or building products.
This ensures all advice is independent and focused solely on improving the performance of the home rather than promoting specific products or installations.
Recommendations are based on practical outcomes such as improving comfort, reducing energy costs and helping homeowners make confident decisions about upgrades.
Homes in Tasmania
Many Tasmanian homes were built before modern energy efficiency standards were introduced.
As a result, it is common for homes to experience:
• High winter electricity use
• Poor heating performance
• Draughts and heat loss
• Inefficient hot water systems
• Opportunities for improvement through insulation and heating upgrades
Tasman Home Energy Advisory helps homeowners identify the improvements that will have the greatest impact on comfort and energy use.
Service Area
Tasman Home Energy Advisory is based in Hobart and provides services across the greater Hobart region.
